I’m just checking to see if there’s anyone who would be interested in lessons for slaughtering chickens and/or rabbits. I’ve been doing it for 7 years now and have had a few people ask to come over when I slaughter and process my animals because they want to learn how to do it hands on. I know watching instruction videos on yt is not the same as doing it yourself. I’m just seeing how much interest there is for this sort of instruction. If you’re interested send me an email and I’ll compile a list.
Generally, when I slaughter chickens I decapitate and skin them. If they are older birds I’ll set up the scalding pot and the feather plucker as skinning older birds is much more difficult, but I try to only slaughter excess roosters and do it while they are still on the young side.
With rabbits I use a pellet gun to put them down and then skin them.
I have used the method where you hang them up and cut their artery and let them bleed but it takes longer and regardless what people say, in my experience is not as humane.
