This East German Navy Volksmarine Waterproof Foul Weather Deck Suit is a Cold War uniform in very nice condition. Jacket and Bibs are similar to heavy Grundens foul weather gear; heavy rubberized construction. Hooded jacket has many interesting details including hand/thumb straps and strap to secure under crotch via metal D rings; all meant to keep jacket on sailor in fiercest of ocean weather. Pants are bib type construction with suspenders. All fasteners are intact except one is missing half but there is a packet of replacements in the inner pocket of the storage bag. No rips or tears or cracking of rubber on the suit but there is some wear to the strap of the bag. I'm not sure why the coloring of the bag is the way it is but it was like this when we got it from my late brother-in-law's home. Both Jacket and Bibs are marked as German size m44 which roughly corresponds to USA size Small. He had other militaria that I am working on getting listed as well.
