NEXGEN MUSIC GROUP (Washington, D.C. Metro, London, UK and recently expanded into Shepherdstown, WV) – an independent record label group and esteemed music collective representing various genres of underground and cross-mainstream music – is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, creative individual (or two) with music business aspirations to join our team as a part-time label assistant/manager.

The successful candidate(s) will be given a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience of working within a modern-day independent record label, while assisting in areas such as business administration, marketing, promotion, licensing and publishing, event planning, public relations, and a variety of other administrative and hands-on tasks. Our goal is to grow this opportunity into a key permanent role within the organization.
Ideal candidates for this position will either be currently pursuing some type of music business or music technology-related diploma/degree, or is already working in the music industry in a related-capacity.
High-level Position Responsibilities:
Label Operations – assist with a variety of day-to-day operations, such as general administration, music licensing and publishing, release management, digital aggregation, audio editing, legal, etc.
Artist Management and A&R – assist with day-to-day artist communications and helping to scout and evaluate new artists.
Marketing/Promotion/Social Media – compiling/maintaining industry contact databases (DJ’s, promoters, producers, radio stations, pluggers, blogs, journalists, managers, agents, etc.). Creating and managing marketing campaigns that support pre- and post-release efforts, together with structured system for logging/channeling feedback to improve campaign effectiveness. Curating social media content and managing social media platforms, management of other online assets and other related duties as required.
Public Relations – liaising with third-party PR firms and managing PR campaigns, sourcing campaign/promotional content from artists and other related duties as required.
Event Planning – assist with the creation and management of label-events, bookings, tours and other related duties as required.
